WCP stands for World Class Players. For 11 years the WCP soccer tournament runs from March through to April
every year in Regina. It has become a three week event with over 1,200
participants, including men, women, youth boys and girls. Soccer
players from across Saskatchewan and Canada come to represent their
Nations of heritage in the World Class Players Cup.
It is the great event that brings so many different cultures together under one roof, one facility, with nobody fighting people cheering and wearing their colors.
Last year 15 Ukrainian soccer payers from Regina and Saskatoon decided to make a team and participate in WCP Cup. It was first time for last 5 years that Ukrainian men team participated in this tournament. We started our training 3 month before official games. Our team had to play with other four teams ( Nigeria, Columbia, Norway and Poland) and win to go to next level in this competition. We won one game and lost other three. But it was the good result for first year team. Also our fans were the best compare to others. We had the biggest and loudest fans in whole tournament.
WCP Cup tournament is fun, but definitely competitive. The level of play is high and the fans and the players are there to win.
